Specialist insurer Gallager Heath is to relocate its Swindon base in a move that has furthered strengthened the town centre’s office market.
The firm, part of the Global insurance group Arthur J Gallagher, is to occupy the entire second floor of Station Square, the refurbished office block near Swindon railway station. It is currently based at Focal Point in Fleet Street.
The 10-year lease on 10,538 sq ft (979 sq m) of prime space means Station Square is now 60% let following on from deals to relocate PrePay Technologies and Colas Rail last year.
Station Square, owned by Amalgamated Berkshire Group, is now the only grade A office scheme in Swindon, both in and out of town.
Chris Meredith, director of business space at Savills, which jointly represented Station Square owner Amalgamated Berkshire Group, said: “This is another significant letting for Swindon and Station Square.
“Arthur J Gallagher is a high-profile, multinational that has chosen to remain in the heart of the town’s commercial centre.”
He said the move was testament to the quality of space available at Station Square and additional car parking which has been secured at the newly-developed Whalebridge car park, part of the Kimmerfields town centre development.
Swindon agent Loveday also represented Amalgamated Berkshire. The remaining space at Station Square means it can accommodate requirements from 2,444 sq ft (227 sq m) to 7,245 sq ft (679 sq m) with an additional 10,538 sq ft (979 sq m) on the first floor currently under offer.
Arthur J Gallagher was represented by Gerald Eve. Gallager Heath, originally called Heath Lambert, was acquired by Arthur J Gallagher (UK) in May 2011. It has had a Swindon office for several decades.
