The impact of last Thursday’s Autumn Statement on firms in Swindon will be on the agenda at this week’s Swindon Business Village networking meeting.

Richard Mathews, of Swindon-based Chartered Accountants, will give an in-depth analysis of the Chancellor’s key measures at Business Village’s weekly breakfast meeting on Thursday.

Following his presentation, attendees will have a chance to quiz Richard – who is a tax expert – on any specific areas of the Autumn Statement.

Headline changes included in the Chancellor’s speech to Parliament last Thursday include capping the planned rise in business rates, scrapping employers’ National Insurance contributions for employees under 21, a rise in the retirement age and freezing fuel duty.

But Richard added: “The specific details of the Autumn Statement gradually come out after the Chancellor has made his presentation so by the date of this meeting we will have a much clearer picture of the impact on businesses.”

The meeting is from 7.30am-9am at the Holiday Inn Express, by M4 junction 16. Entry is £10 and it is open to everyone. For more information visit www.businessvillage.org.
