Wiltshire College’s ambitious plans for a £21m state-of-the-art campus in Chippenham are to go on display to the public tomorrow.

The 9,100 sq m three-storey building on land behind the existing college buildings in Cocklebury Road could provide a new purpose-built campus for town.

According to Wiltshire College, the new facilities would support growth in vocational training and apprenticeships in areas such as engineering, construction and hair and beauty as well as university level courses and army resettlement.

The new campus will be designed to meet the future demands of students, employers and the community with industry-standard workshops and vocational training spaces, together with realistic working environments.

College representatives will be on hand at the exhibition tomorrow, which takes place in the Cove Theatre at the College’s Chippenham Campus from 2pm until 8pm.

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to provide comments and feedback.

Wiltshire College vice principal Andrew Clare said: “This is an exciting and unique opportunity for Wiltshire College to greatly improve its teaching facilities in Chippenham, for the benefit of the town as a whole.

“We are keen to strengthen our links with the town and see the redevelopment of our currently outdated campus at Cocklebury Road as a key driver to achieving this goal.

“We look forward to meeting interested members of the public and discussing our ambitions at our public consultation event.”

He said the project was aligned with Local Economic Partnership initiatives and the Chippenham Vision masterplan.

For those who cannot make this event, the plans will remain on show for two weeks, before a formal planning application is submitted.

If planning permission is granted the new facilities will open to students in September 2015.
