Pizza Hut Delivery has opened a takeaway outlet in Chippenham town centre following planning consent for a change of use in a building previously occupied by a restaurant and wine bar.

The 1,081 sq ft unit on New Road has a 474 sq ft (44 sq m) bar and seating area at the front and 399 sq ft (37.12 sq m) of kitchen, ancillary areas and storage space at the rear.

The high-profile site close to the railway station and on the main road into the town centre from the M4 proved a successful location for Bridge Brasserie, which has relocated to the larger former Little George pub further along New Road.

The Swindon office of property agents Alder King acted for the building’s owner HPH, which obtained the change of use.

Alder King associate Alison Williams said: “Demand from food retailers for well-located sites remains encouragingly strong. This unit sits at the heart of a busy location popular with other restaurant and food-related businesses and benefits from a high volume of passing traffic and strong pedestrian footfall.”

Jon Osborne of Pizza Hut Delivery added: “We are delighted with our new premises. Demand is proving to be strong and we are already looking to recruit more delivery drivers.”

Pizza Hut has taken the building on a 20-year lease.

* Tax Assist Accountants have signed a five-year lease on a 400 sq ft office in the next-door unit in New Road.
