Wiltshire employers, the military and local councils are joining together to create Living and Working in Wiltshire and Swindon, an event to showcase the strong talent pool in the area emerging from changes within the Army.
With restructuring under Army 2020, more than 5,000 military people will be looking for new careers in civilian life and Wiltshire is one of their most favoured destinations.
Wiltshire Council has been quick to realise the potential of attracting fresh talent to the area and is collaborating with Swindon Borough Council to support the show on June 26 at the Tidworth Leisure Centre.
The Swindon & Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) and MoD’s Career Transition Partnership have also added their backing. The show takes place between 10am and 3 pm.
SWLEP chairman Paul Johnson said: “Harnessing the skills and employability of military personnel
leaving the Army in Wiltshire is a key priority for the Swindon & Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership.”
Companies taking part include Aspire Defence, Aster Group, Babcock International Group, First Great
Western and Nationwide.
Brigadier Piers Hankinson, Commander 43 (Wessex) Brigade, said: “Many people leaving the Army
already enjoy living in Wiltshire and the show is a great opportunity for them to find work and make a permanent home here.”
