Good Energy, the Chippenham-based sustainable power firm, has been selected by Bath Rugby to be its official energy supplier.

The firm, the UK’s leading 100% renewable electricity firm and which also boasts award-winning customer service, will support the club in its efforts to become more sustainable.

Electricity supplied by Good Energy will be used to power both the club's home ground The Rec and its Farleigh House training facility. All the firm’s electricity is sourced in the UK from natural sunlight, wind and water. So for each major home match played at the Rec, around 0.75 tonnes of carbon will be saved.

In addition, Good Energy hopes to help Bath Rugby generate more renewable electricity itself at Farleigh House, where it has already installed solar panels.

And every Bath supporter who switches to Good Energy will get a £50 voucher to spend in the Bath Rugby shop.

Bath Rugby second row Dave Attwood said: “This is a great partnership. The club is very keen to keep linking up with ambitious local companies, and Good Energy is a fantastic example of that. We are constantly looking at ways to improve and develop our energy sustainability and Good Energy has been really helpful so far. I’m sure it will continue to be as the partnership develops.”

The firm’s founder and chief executive Juliet Davenport added: “Good Energy is different. When you call our award-winning customer care team, you will get straight through to an expert who is fluent in energy and can help with everything from a simple meter reading to how to generate your own renewable power. We are proud to partner Bath Rugby as our local side, and we look forward to working with them to lower the club’s carbon footprint in the future.”

Since it was founded in 1999, Good Energy has been a catalyst for change in the energy market. A champion of independent renewable electricity producers, it supports a community of 40,000 green generators and supplies more than 30,000 homes and businesses.

Its main tariff is certified by the independent Green Energy Supply Scheme, which guarantees it delivers a genuine environmental benefit.
