Swindon-based IT recruiter Outsource UK  managing director Paul Jameson has raised more than £4,300 for children’s charity Action Medical Research by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Paul, whose lifetime ambition was to scale the 5,895 m (19,341 ft) peak – Africa’s highest – took part in the six-day trek with friends Andy Saunders and Simon Bristow and a team of other climbers. They reached the summit at sunrise on October 10 following a gruelling 30-hour final push.

Paul, pictured, said: “It was tough and utterly exhausting but I’m very proud to have completed it as it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do.

“To have raised such a massive amount for a very worthwhile charity is really great, I’m very pleased. The work they do at Action Medical Research is wonderful and makes a real difference.”

Action Medical Research funds research to help reduce the high rate of premature birth, prevent pregnancy complications that threaten babies’ lives and find the best ways to treat sick and vulnerable babies.
