Swindon-based specialist software firm Intergraph (UK) has won a multi-million euro contract with Irish electricity distributor ESB Networks following a highly-competitive procurement process which included legal advice from local law firm Withy King.

The contract covers the implementation of Intergraph’s leading-edge map-based software to support the planning, design, construction and day-to-day operations of ESB’s network.

Intergraph will collaborate with its Irish partner IMGS on the contract delivery.

Intergraph UK country manager Alun Pearsey said: “As the leading global provider of engineering and geospatial software, we are delighted to be able to serve ESB Networks with an enterprise solution that supports an end-to-end workflow for its network. Customers like ESB validate Intergraph’s strategy of enabling utility companies around the world to power smarter decisions through Intergraph technology.”

Intergraph, part of the giant Swedish Hexagon technology group, supplies businesses and governments in more than 60 countries with software that organises vast amounts of data and makes processes and infrastructures better, safer, and smarter in areas ranging from plants and ships and intelligent mapping.

Jessica Bent, pictured, head of Withy King’s technology and media law team in Swindon, worked closely with Intergraph on the contract.

Jessica said: “Contract negotiations were running to a short timescale and this posed particular challenges given the large scale of the project, and the range of elements that needed to be brought together.

“We were delighted to be involved in the successful contract award and to provide Intergraph with the specialist advice that it needed.”

Mr Pearsey praised Withy King’s “expertise, professionalism and dedication” in negotiating the large and complex contracts.
