Chippenham-based Good Energy, the UK’s leading 100% renewable electricity supplier, has appointed former Lloyds Bank director John Maltby as non-executive chairman with immediate effect.
Throughout his career, Mr Maltby, pictured, has developed a successful track record of delivering strong profit growth, most recently as group director of the UK Commercial Bank of Lloyds Banking Group, the division specialising in lending to small businesses.
He was previously group chief executive for seven years of specialist mortgage business Kensington Group, before its acquisition by Investec. Mr Maltby has held senior executive roles throughout the financial services industry, including at NatWest, Barclays Bank and Abbey National.
Rick Squires, who has acted as Good Energy’s non-executive chairman since 2011, retires with immediate effect but will remain on the board as a non-executive director.
Mr Maltby said: “I am excited to be joining the board of what is an exciting and forward-thinking company. I believe it is important for companies and consumers to capitalise on the opportunities that are being offered in the environmental sector and Good Energy is at the forefront of delivering that.”
Good Energy chief executive Juliet Davenport said: “John’s wealth of experience in working with small businesses, as well as his reputation for delivering growth for the companies he has worked for, will be invaluable to us as Good Energy continues in its development. He recognises the value and benefits of renewable energy and businesses operating sustainably and I believe he will play an important role as we seek to expand our supply, FIT administration and generation business. We look forward to working with him.”
