Paul Gosling, a taxation specialist with more than 35 years’ experience, has joined Swindon-based chartered accountants Banks to head up its tax department.

Paul, pictured, arrives at Banks following a career which started in 1977 with HMRC and progressed through to a spell in the City and several years with accountancy practices in Bath, Cirencester and Reading.

Paul has always specialised in tax, both for personal and business clients, and has a high degree of knowledge of taxation for the construction industry as well as expertise in carrying out tax investigations.

He also has experience in dealing with taxation of trusts.

Paul said: “I particularly enjoy working with small businesses, which is a strong focus for Banks and one of the things that attracted me to the firm.

“In line with the firm’s own thinking, I am very keen to increase the expertise of the tax team so we can increase the services given to our current clients, and also expand on our client base.”

Paul is a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, a Fellow of the Federation of Tax Advisors and a member of the Federation of Small Businesses.
