A young managing director from Swindon has been shortlisted as one of three finalists in a competition to find the best up and coming young talent in the processing and packaging industries.

Marcel Darroch-Davies, managing director at Axelent  – one of Europe’s leading suppliers of machine guarding, warehouse partitioning, anti-collapse and property protection – has been recognised in the Processing & Packaging Machinery Association’s PPMA 2012 ‘Ones to Watch’ competition.

Returning for the second time following last year’s success, the ‘Ones to Watch’ competition recognises the contributions of processing and packaging professionals under the age of 35 who have worked in the industry for at least four years.

Marcel, pictured, became managing rirector of Axelent two years ago at the age of 26. During this time, he has been instrumental in making it one of the top selling Axelent distributors. He is personally involved in coordinating all the large and bespoke projects the company undertakes.

In his first year in charge of Axelent, Marcel oversaw a 48% increase in turnover, something that particularly impressed the 'Ones to Watch' judges. During this time, he has been also been instrumental in the success of Axelent’s X-Guard machine guarding system, with sales increasing exponentially since its introduction.

Stefan Axelsson, export & marketing manager at Axelent, said: “To be promoted to the managing director of a company at the age of 26 is a truly phenomenal achievement. Marcel makes a huge impression on all the clients and projects that he is involved in, and personally puts a great deal of time into each and every one to ensure they are a success. At 6ft 5ins, Marcel is a giant in all senses of the word and fully deserves this nomination.”
