Public services and infrastructure engineering company Amey has concluded lease negotiations for new office space in Swindon town centre.

Acting on behalf of the Mapeley Group, property agents Whitmarsh Lockhart confirmed a new five-year lease of the fourth floor of the SN1 building totalling 10,060 sq ft – one of the largest open market office lettings in the town centre since 2008.

Mapeley is upgrading the entrance and main reception area of SN1, formerly Premier House, opposite the Swindon railway station on Station Road.

SN1 will also benefit from significant regeneration of the surrounding area with a number of major new projects set to enhance and expand the commercial, residential, retail and leisure facilities.

Daniel Smethurst of Whitmarsh Lockhart said: “The recent letting to Amey is a fantastic achievement in a tough economic climate and we certainly expect the building to appeal to a wide spectrum of national and international businesses going forward.

“That said SN1 is not just for larger corporate occupiers as we have carefully considered the sub division of floorplates and as such we are able to accommodate enquiries from 3,000 sq ft upwards.

“Businesses moving into SN1 will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Zurich Financial Services, Network Rail, Capita, Nationwide and the National Trust to name but a few. This is surely testament to the vibrancy of Swindon as a business centre.”
