Basepoint Swindon is hosting a business surgery in conjunction with the Swindon branch of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) which will be attended by local MPs Justin Tomlinson and Robert Buckland along with Tim Rivett, from the Business Banking Association.

The business surgery, to be held , on Friday August 17 from 11am to 12.30pm, is open to SMEs and will be discussing the Better Business Finance (BBF) initiative, which was created to bring to life the recommendations of the Business Finance Taskforce.

The UK’s six largest banks and the British Bankers’ Association recommended 17 actions to improve the banks’ relationships with their business customers, ensure better access to finance and promote greater understanding of the needs of businesses. BBF are very aware of the need to explain to small businesses that alternative sources of funds do exist and how to access them. The BBF presentation will then be followed by a question and answer session.

Lyn Chapman, centre manager at Basepoint Swindon, said: “As a supporter of small businesses, we are thrilled to be hosting this event. It will provide a great opportunity for SMEs to learn about alternative funding options and how banks aim to improve their relationships with their business customers.”

Places are limited to 30 attendees, to register, email emma@emnico.com. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
