Japanese carmaker Honda has been named the most reliable used car brand in the UK in a survey by What Car? and Warranty Direct.

Honda, who recently employed an extra 500 staff to help manufacture its Swindon-built Civic has consistently placed highly in reliability surveys.

What Car? editor in cheif, Chas Hallett, said: "Reliability is so important to motorists, especially when times are tough. Japanese carmakers really do deliver on reliability and Honda is exceptionally good at this."

Owners of used Hondas have a 10% chance of their cars suffering a breakdown, according to the survey of 50,000 Warranty Direct policies.

This is the seventh year running that Honda has topped the ranking.
