Plans for the biggest redevelopment project for generations in Chippenham – including the town’s massive former Westinghouse site – are being drawn up following an agreement between two development companies.
Property management and development companies Aberdeen Property UK Retail Parks Trust and Ashtenne Industrial Fund have formed the partnership to redevelop a 54-acre site that takes in Langley Park, once home to the giant Westinghouse industrial complex and now the base for a number of factories and offices, and Hathaway Retail Park.
The partnership was formed when Chippenham Vision and Wiltshire Council, acting as the local planning authority, asked Ashtenne to create a strategy for the site – one the largest redevelopment areas along the M4 corridor. The site fronts onto the main London-Bristol railway line.
Aberdeen Asset Management director Simon Moscow said: “There are a lot of good businesses in both Hathaway Park and Langley Park, all of which have huge potential.”
Ashtenne director Wayne Locke added: “We will unlock one of Chippenham’s most significant private sector-led investments over the next 18 months to two years. Once delivered, this will undoubtedly act as a magnet for future investment in the town.”
