Technology store Dixons has opened its first Dixons Travel-branded outlet at Bristol Airport, offering travellers around 1,000 products, including hundreds of different headphones and gadgets.
The store, in the airport’s departure lounge, offers a ‘reserve before you fly’ scheme, allowing customers to phone and reserve products to collect and pay for when they arrive at the airport. Although Dixons has 25 stores across the UK, Bristol’s is the first to have a Dixons Travel-branded fascia.
Dixons Travel managing director Neil Hollins said: “The Bristol Airport store launches our new branding but will offer the same excellent service and fantastically low prices that our travel-bound customers have come to expect.”
Bristol Airport commercial director Simon Preece added: “We aim to provide a great shopping experience at Bristol Airport and a household name like Dixons makes a great addition to our departure lounge. Passengers have been telling us they want more choice when it comes to technology items, and we have listened.”
The airport, which handles nearly 6m passengers a year, is undergoing a £150m upgrade to take capacity to 10m passenger a year within 10 years.
Last week Transport Secretary Justine Greening officially opened three new aircraft stands at the airport – the first of more than 30 projects which will enable this growth over the next decade.
