Attending a how-to-sell-your-business seminar staged by accountants Monahans, who have an office in Swindon, led the owners of a specialist Wiltshire packaging firm to complete a deal to sell their company.

Martin and Julie Lewis launched Warminster-based Elms Cross 13 years ago and have since built it up as a regional specialist in bespoke packaging and pallets.

They were so impressed with Monahans’ expertise at the seminar they signed up the firm to help them sell the business and it has now been bought by Kent firm Leonard Gould.

Peter Lugg from Monahans’ corporate finance team profiled the business, created literature to promote the sale, researched and contacted potential buyers, helped appoint the best suited solicitors for this sale and provided commercial input into the contracts.

Peter and his team identified Maidstone-based Leonard Gould as a potential buyer as the firm was very similar and keen to expand into new area.

Peter said: “This was a really nice deal to work on as, apart from one or two hiccups, everything ran fairly smoothly, which is not always the case.

“I hope Martin and Julie can now enjoy a bit of a break before embarking on their next venture.”

Martin added: “At the beginning of the process I was quite sceptical about the need for a specialist accountant. However, I found Peter’s help and advice invaluable throughout.”

As well as Swindon, Monahans has offices in Chippenham, Trowbridge, Bath and Glastonbury.
