Care-at-home provider Bluebird Care is to expand and recruit more staff after taking over the relief care service provided by Swindon Carers Centre.

Swindon-based Bluebird stepped in when Swindon Carers Centre was no longer able to run its domiciliary care service for 30 clients, plus a sitting service for a further 26.

Under the terms of the transfer, which takes effect over the next few weeks, Bluebird will run the care packages for all clients, including the Alzheimer’s sitting service. It has retained all 15 Swindon Carers Centre staff.

Bluebird is now seeking 10 more staff to train as care workers, which would take its total to 40, including the 15 from Swindon Carers Centre

Bluebird managing director Ben Curtis said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to take over this contract and will be seeing all our new clients to ensure the changeover for them is seamless.”

The transfer means Swindon Carers Centre can concentrate on its core business of providing support to family carers.

Swindon Carers Centre CEO Diana Finch said: “When we realised it was no longer viable for us to run the relief care service, we started to look for a new provider. We chose Bluebird Care because they really fit in with our ethos of providing a personal service which respects the clients and their family carers, and provides security for the staff.”
