HSBC has appointed Paul Wood as senior corporate banking manager for the South West.

In his new role Paul will focus on the extensive corporate market in the region, supporting businesses with a turnover of £25m-plus and ensuring that HSBC continues to meet the needs of its corporate clients.

Paul will report to Mark Bennett, head of the West and Wales Corporate Banking Centre, and will be based at the bank’s regional centre in Bristol.

His appointment follows further growth in the number of experienced relationship managers the bank has in the South West.

Prior to joining HSBC, Paul spent 22 years with RBS and NatWest in a variety of roles including relationship management, business development and credit. The past 12 years were spent in structured finance, focusing initially on private equity, then the past three years heading up a team focusing on large corporate transactions across the South of England.

Paul said: “I’m looking forward to providing both new and existing customers in the South West with the support needed to achieve their domestic and international growth plans.

“The general feeling is that there appears to be renewed confidence amongst many businesses in the South West with some simply preparing for better times ahead and others actively seeking out new international markets.

“Therefore, it is vital that the bank has the right resources to provide the high level support needed and I look forward to working with the team to continue to achieve this.”
