Swindon-based independent commercial insurance broker Brunsdon Westinsure has been acquired by insurance giant Swinton for an undisclosed sum.
Established in 1957, Brunsdon specialises in business and personal insurance and risk management. Its commercial team will continue to operate from its office at Dammas House, Old Town, while the smaller personal lines team will move to Swinton's branch in Swindon.
Rod Alcorn of Brunsdon, said “We carefully considered a number of offers for our business and were impressed by the enthusiasm of the commercial team at Swinton.
"This is an exciting time for the team. Over the coming months there will be a sharing of skills and expertise and we’re confident this can only mean a better service for clients. The combination of Brunsdon Westinsure’s heritage and Swinton's strong buying power will provide clients with the most competitive price and tailor-made policies to suit their needs.”
The deal is Swinton’s 11th acquisition this year and will take the North West group's chain of commercial offices to 34.
Swinton Commercial director Carolyn Callan said: “Brunsdon Westinsure's team has a strong reputation, understands the business market in the region and offers a mix of specialist knowledge which will serve to strengthen Swinton’s offering further.”
