Food firm invests in disinfection technology

Specialist food producer Malmesbury Syrups has invested in disinfection technology to make its products safe without using heat.

The PurePulse hi-intensity pulsed-light system made by Hertfordshire firm Microtek uses just five per cent of the energy required for conventional heat treatment of liquids.

The system will also help streamline production at Oaksey-based Malmesbury Syrups, effectively halving production time and improving the taste of its flavoured syrups which it supplies to fine food and specialty delicatessens, high street retailers, coffee shops and other on-line retailers.
