Ashville Properties has launched its latest development in Chippenham, Methuen Park. The scheme follows on from its other successful schemes in Wiltshire at Porte Marsh Centre, Calne and Ashville Centre, Melksham.
The site is one of the few undeveloped available parcels of land in Chippenham, benefiting from excellent communications and exposure to passing traffic, in an established business location that has already attracted a number of local occupiers including Herman Miller, Sainsburys, Wincanton and Scisys.
Methuen Park is located directly adjacent to the A350 and within four miles of junction 17 of the M4. The land previously offered detailed planning consent for three office buildings. Ashville, however, will not be implementing that consent and will be looking instead to talk to occupiers to develop bespoke accommodation on 1 to 2 acres and reviewing plans for a speculative business unit style scheme on the remaining 1 acre plot.
The size of the existing scheme is 70,000 sq ft and Ashville will be looking at a similar coverage, modified to suit the current market. A project team has been assembled to consider a number of different options before applying for the relevant planning consents with a view to commencing work in 2012.
Commenting on the scheme, Spencer Crowder, development director at Ashville, said: “This is one of the few undeveloped employment sites still available in Chippenham and offer a good quality business park and managed environment with many existing high profile occupiers. There has been a period of reduced market activity for commercial premises, but more recently demand has been much stronger on our nearby schemes giving us confidence to plan a speculative phase going forward.
“There is still a lack of new modern commercial accommodation and our knowledge of the area and the type of product Ashville develops will lead to another successful scheme in the area. We hope to be making further announcements shortly.”
