Swindon College will be supporting National Apprenticeship Week, which takes place from Monday 7th to Friday 11th February 2011. The College will be focusing on raising awareness of Apprenticeships amongst school pupils, learners and employers as well as celebrating the success and skills of its current apprentices.
Anyone who is interested in finding out more about apprenticeships are invited to the College’s Open Evening on Wednesday 9th February, between 5pm and 7pm. Employers will also have an opportunity to find out about the College’s adult apprenticeship programmes, as Business First, Swindon College’s commercial training provider will be exhibiting at The Business Show at STEAM on Thursday 10th February 2011, between 9am and 4pm.
Marie Sneddon, manager of the apprenticeship team said: “This week is a fantastic opportunity to promote the benefits of apprenticeships, both for young people and employers. Apprentices can gain invaluable industry experience in their job while achieving national qualifications and getting paid at the same time. Employers gain affordable, hard-working staff who are committed to learning, with funding support from the government. Taking on an Apprentice will also demonstrate your company’s commitment to training and can bring new ideas into your company.”
