A campaign to create a centre in Swindon to provide respite day care for children with special needs was launched earlier this year and now the charity behind it is hoping that Swindon’s business network will help to boost the appeal further by lending its support.
The Hop Skip & Jump Swindon Appeal is raising funds to build the new centre (in the town’s Lydiard Park) for children and their families living in and around the county. The appeal has so far raised £142,000 towards its £985,000 target and has been helped along by the sterling efforts of local volunteer fundraisers.
Charity founder Clarissa Mitchell said: “Swindon has a really vibrant business community, and obviously we want them to get involved in the appeal as much as possible. Hopefully some businesses will make donations to help us reach our target, but we also need manpower for various collections and events, especially in the run up to Christmas.
“If any companies would like to be a part of the Hop Skip & Jump Appeal, we would love to hear from them.”
So far the appeal has gained support from some well known organisations in and around Swindon including Arkell’s Pubs, Swindon Town Football Club, Swindon Borough Council, Zurich, Wiltshire Magazine, the Swindon Advertiser and Swindon 105.5.
