John Lewis is on the hunt for sales assistants, specialist advisers and catering staff to work at its new Swindon shop which opens this autumn on Mannington Retail Park.

The company is recruiting 180 full-time, part-time and temporary Partners (staff) to work at the new ‘at home’ shop which will focus on furniture, homeware, furnishing accessories, electricals and home technology and also have an in-store cafe.

John Lewis at home Swindon is offering a range of roles including entry-level positions for those looking to begin a career in retail. Industry experience is not essential and the retailer is committed to fostering talent and training its staff to the highest level. The John Lewis training scheme provides opportunities for career progression from selling Partners to management positions.

Brigitte Frater, John Lewis recruitment manager, says: “The past year has been very competitive for those trying to find work, particularly young people. We are thrilled to be in a position to offer 180 new roles in Swindon and we’re looking to recruit fresh local talent.

“We are seeking hard-working individuals with a positive attitude who can bring their skills to the business. Ideally, applicants will be keen and accustomed to working in teams, but also able to take the lead and act independently. The most important quality we look for is the ability to offer exceptional standards of customer service.

“We offer a range of diverse roles with flexible working hours and new recruits will benefit from the company’s unique structure, access to holiday and leisure facilities, and an excellent pension.

The unique John Lewis business model means that all Partners are co-owners in the business, and receive a percentage of their salary as an annual bonus in March. In 2010 Partners celebrated a bonus of 15% of their gross salary.
