Hung parliament risk to negatively affect businesses

A hung parliament will create uncertainly in the business community with no party given a mandate to govern, therefore no clear path for strong decision making to help boost the economy when it needs it most, local firms fear.

Phil Smith, Managing Director, GWE Business West said: “With no clear party in control there is less likely to be a clear mandate for action and decision making. There are clear decisions that need to be taken now – how we handle the nation’s debt, how we continue our economic recovery and how best we support business in the short term.”

Nicky Alberry, Chairman, said: “We would like to see a clear plan developed for the next few months. It is imperative that a hung parliament does not mean indecision and lack of action on key economic issues.”
