Marlow Avenue development taking shape
The first phase of the regeneration which is being undertaken by Swindon Borough Council at Marlowe Avenue is now taking shape.
Local Commercial agents Keningtons LLP have been representing the Council and are pleased to announce that Martin McColl have now signed up to take the 3,000 sq ft Convenience store and the local hairdresser has also committed to the new development and will be moving from their current premises in Marlowe Avenue once phase one is completed.
Jeremy Sutton at Keningtons commented: “ Phase one of the development consist of 4 retail units with 4 flats above the Convenience Store. We are delighted to have secured a national retailer to run the Convenience Store and are also pleased that the local hairdresser wanted to be part of the new development. The other two retail units are also under offer to existing tenants, who will be relocating.
“For small neighbourhood schemes it is important to get the right mix of occupiers and not provide too many retail units as tenant demand is limited and there is nothing worse than having vacant shops, when you are looking to regenerate and improve an area. Once phase one is completed and the new tenants moved in the Council will demolish the existing residential and retail block and redevelop affordable family homes.”
