Work on the £2m refurbishment of The Goddard Arms in Swindon Old Town has commenced with a view to open the hotel and bar in time for Christmas.
The newly appointed manager, David Montgomery, has recruited 30 full and part-time staff to work in the hotel and bar, all of whom will be undergoing training ahead of the opening. The Goddard Arms is scheduled to open on 2nd December as a smart 11-bedroom operation with a high quality bar on the ground floor, under the ownership and operation of the Barracuda Group.
The company has invested more than £2m in the freehold acquisition of the site and is committed to the development of the iconic building in a sympathetic and stylish manner under Barracuda’s Smith & Jones brand.
Manager David said: “I’m really excited about re-opening the hotel and am looking for a hard-working, enthusiastic team of people to come on board. The bar and hotel will offer residents and visitors to Swindon Old Town the perfect place to relax, socialise and enjoy premium brands as well as great food from an award winning menu in a contemporary, yet comfortable environment. We’ll be running a carvery on Sundays, we’ll also have two function rooms, car park and 11 stylish bedrooms.”
David, has moved to Swindon from his highly successful tenure at The Vanguard in Fareham, Hants, will strive to get the balance just right between day and evenings creating a fresh and lively ambiance – somewhere that you can go for a quick coffee in the afternoon, an evening meal with friends or enjoy a fun night out at weekends.
