Two long-established firms of property surveyors, Dreweatt Neate and Carter Jonas, are to merge on May 1 following long negotiations.
The new firm, which will be called Carter Jonas, will be a major force in the UK property market with a turnover of £30m, 70 partners and some 475 staff across 30 offices, including one in Swindon.
There is said to be a good geographic fit between the two firms, which generally operate in areas of the country where the other does not currently have a presence. The new firm will therefore be able to offer clients a national profile with offices across most of England and Wales, including London.
Both firms operate specialist sector teams that will bring added value to the other firm’s clients. For example, Carter Jonas has a national technology team and an energy and marine team, while Dreweatt Neate has a strong architectural practice in Sutton Griffin and a specialist infrastructures team.
The new, larger firm will be better placed to handle significant client projects and provide extra resources in times of peak workload.
“While we will be part of a bigger national firm, both Dreweatt Neate and Carter Jonas share a strong desire to maintain local roots and will continue to deal with your normal day-to-day
contact,” a spokesman said.
