Local housing group Sovereign recently held a launch event on 14 March in the Brunel Centre to promote the launch of the first phase of its part buy, part rent properties on the East Wichel site.
235 homes will become available in different phases, with 42 available in the first phase.
One of the key features of the East Wichel development is the attention to detail that has gone into each of the homes with each one being truly unique. The homes are also very spacious and built to a high standard. In this phase of the development Sovereign is offering a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom and three-bedroom homes for shared ownership with prices starting from £55,000.
The launch event aimed to show the options available for affordable home ownership. Many people dropped in during the day to talk to representatives from Sovereign and to find out more about owning a home in East Wichel. There was also an opportunity to speak to a free independent financial adviser. By the end of the day over 40 people had signed up for further details of shared ownership.
Gary Bremner, marketing manager for Sovereign Housing Group, commented: “This was an important event for Sovereign as we were informing local people of their options. It was really good to see lots of people turning up and the event allowed us to explain more clearly how easy it is to own a shared ownership home.”
Earlier this month Swindon Borough Council’s Executive Members and the Homes & Communities Agency’s Regional Board visited the East Wichel site and were shown around a number of the new homes being built. The feedback received from Members and Board Members alike was how impressed they were by the quality of the homes being delivered and the affordability for potential purchasers, demonstrating the desirability and likely demand for the new homes.
After the success of the launch event, Sovereign will also be shortly starting the marketing for the next 39 shared ownership homes which will be available in the second phase of the development.
