Speculative Swindon office development becomes ideal home for expanding pet insurer

Fast-growing pet insurance firm Animal Friends is to open a base in Swindon, taking space in the first speculative office scheme in the town since the recession.

The Amesbury-based firm, which describes itself as an ethical insurer of dogs, cats and horses, is to move into the newly developed 6,000 sq ft Links House office building in Westmead on a new 10-year lease.

The development, by London-based Glenmore Commercial Estates, is one of just two small, mixed office and industrial schemes completed in Swindon in recent years.

The Animal Friends letting was handled jointly by Swindon commercial property agents Whitmarsh Lockhart and Loveday.

Bradley Forbes of Loveday said: “We were delighted to be able to agree terms with Animal Friends, who have been seeking a suitable office building to accommodate their expansion within West Swindon.

“Having agreed terms halfway through the build project, it is clear that their foresight has paid off. Given the fact we are now facing limited supply this should hopefully send a signal to other developers that there is a healthy market for good quality newly built office stock within the town.”

Animal Friends claims & marketing director Westley Pearson added: “We were pleased to secure the premises in Westmead and advance our growth plans which will continue to support our award-winning service across Amesbury and Swindon.”
