Swindon-based specialist personal injury and medical negligence firm Novum Law has further strengthened its team with the arrival of solicitor Catherine Donovan.

Catherine is the latest in a string of new joiners at the firm and the second from New Law Solicitors in Bristol, where she worked on as a litigation solicitor on a varied case load of personal injury cases.

Prior to her role at New Law, she worked at Goughs Solicitors in Chippenham as a personal injury solicitor.

She has several degrees under her belt, having originally qualified as a solicitor in Uganda in 2000. She then moved to the UK and studied to complete the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme, qualifying as a solicitor in 2014. She also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

Catherine brings a wealth of legal experience to Novum Law having helped hundreds of clients secure compensation for their serious injuries sustained due to road traffic accidents, work-related incidents, industrial disease and clinical negligence.

In her new role she will be responsible for helping clients secure high-value compensation claims due to serious, life-changing injuries, including severe head injuries. She will work closely with Novum Law director Huw Ponting and his expert team to build on the firm’s reputation as the ‘go-to’ practice for personal injury and medical negligence compensation claims.

Catherine said: “I am driven by trying to help people who have been injured in a serious accident through no fault of their own and to secure the best possible outcome so that they can rebuild their lives.

“Being in an accident and suffering severe injuries or a traumatic brain injury can have a devastating impact on people’s lives – not only physically but emotionally and financially.

“While we can’t take our clients’ suffering away, we can fight for justice for them to ensure they have access to the financial help and the care and support they need to move on and put their accident behind them.

“With its focus on complex, high-value serious personal injury cases and its client care excellence, Novum Law was a natural choice for me when it came to my next career move and I am absolutely thrilled and excited to be joining the team at a time when the business is expanding so rapidly.”

Huw Ponting added: “We are really pleased that Catherine has joined us. She will be a huge asset to our team and the wider firm and I am very much looking forward to working with her.”

Novum, a sister business of Swindon-headquartered M4 corridor law firm Thrings, specialising in serious injury, medical negligence and asbestos illness claims.

It also has offices in London, Bristol, Bath, Swindon, Salisbury, Plymouth, Reading, the Isle of Wight and Southampton, and earlier this year expanded into the Midlands for the first time by opening in Hereford.
