Being a good corporate neighbour has earned a top ‘responsible business’ award for Excalibur Communications, the Swindon-based IT and communications support firm.

The Business in the Community South West Responsible Business Award recognised Excalibur’s commitment to creating long-term value while also placing social responsibility at the heart of the business.

The firm, based at in Arclite House in Peatmoor, was presented with the award during the Responsible Business South West gala dinner at St George’s in Bristol.

The Responsible Business Network – part of HRH The Prince of Wales-backed Business in the Community – showcases companies that are working to build a fairer society and a more sustainable future by helping to create vibrant communities where people can flourish.

Excalibur CEO James Phipps said: “It is an honour to receive this award because it shows what a positive impact businesses can make when they manage growth responsibly and also operate responsibly as an employer, supplier and customer.

“At Excalibur we support a large number of causes in Wiltshire and beyond, as well as helping organisations hold events at our Cloud space in Arclite House. We enjoy bringing people together, so it is heartening to be recognised by Business in the Community as a good neighbour that is actively involved in building a fairer society and a more sustainable future here in the South West.”

Among the community projects supported by Excalibur is its bi-monthly hosting of the Swindon Soup event, where individuals can create or develop something that they feel would benefit local people.

This is very much in keeping with the Excalibur ethos of building relationships in the South West, including, for example, its recent support for Bath’s Royal United Hospital with its Cancer Care Campaign as well as helping the Against Breast Cancer charity.

Business in the Community area director Raksha Pattni said: “We firmly believe that responsible business is not just a better way to do business but it is the only way to do business.”

The Responsible Business Award follows Excalibur’s recent victory in the coveted Mobile Industry Awards where it won Best Unified Comms Dealer for the way it integrates communications for its customers and exceptionally high levels of employee engagement.
