Swindon-based entrepreneur Sara Tye has been named among the finalists in the prestigious the First Women Awards 2016.

Sara, pictured, managing director of Swindon public relations consultancy redheadPR, is one of five finalists in the First Women in Media category.

Launched in 2005, the awards are the UK’s leading programme celebrating senior businesswomen and professionals. They are supported by leading UK firms, industry bodies and business leaders.

In a varied career, Sara has headed up communications at Yellow Pages, developed stakeholder relations in-house at Thames Water Utilities and was the personal PR internationally for The Body Shop’s founder, the late Dame Anita Roddick.

Sara, who is also CEO of luxury cycling company Etape Suisse, said: “This is a great honour. My career so far, from working at major businesses, through forming redheadPR to managing my property portfolio and becoming CEO at Etape Suisse, has been an amazing journey.

“Keeping that journey going means evolving continuously and staying ahead of the curve. It’s a never-ending challenge – but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The other finalists in the First Women in Media category are Jo Davies, CEO, ZAK; Annemarie Hordern, executive TV producer, Bloomberg; Shamim Sarif, novelist, screenwriter, film director, Enlightenment Productions; and Sarah Tierney, founder and CEO, We Are Colony.

The winners will be announced on June 22 at an awards dinner at the Lancaster London Hotel, hosted by comedian, writer, presenter and actress Katherine Ryan.
