Firms in Swindon’s financial and professional services sector are being encouraged to get involved in a taskforce dedicated to improving skills in the industry.

The taskforce will give companies operating in the sector a chance to work directly with educational training providers in Swindon to address the skills shortages in the town.

By taking part they will have a direct impact on the development of course material and tailor it to their needs – so helping equip the next generation of young talent with the relevant skills.

The first meeting of the taskforce takes place this Wednesday, January 27, at New College between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

It is organised by Swindon Skills Mapping and Brokerage Service, which is managed by Business West, the region’s largest business organisation.

The taskforce will discuss issues highlighted by the sector such as course delivery and specific skills needs.
