A scheme to give free information, resources and support to businesses across the UK is to be launched next week as the latest initiative from Royal Wootton Bassett-based entrepreneur Warren Cass.

Champions of Small Business is designed to support the small businesses that are at the heart of the UK’s economy and aims to plug the gap created by the ending of Government support schemes such as Business Link.

It will be launched at the Business Show in London’s Olympia on Thursday December 3.

Warren Cass, pictured – the founder of membership organisation Business Scene – said: “Champions of Small Business is designed to engage the small business sector, which is largely unsupported by government.

“This initiative will allow small business owners to access knowledge, expertise and resources for nothing.

“Small business often gets overlooked and forgotten and what little support was on offer has been largely withdrawn.

“The irony is small business drives our economy, employing nearly 26m people, and we want to do something positive for these businesses and the entrepreneurs who drive them forwards.”

Some 50 leading business voices – or ‘thought leaders’ –will be at the centre of the initiative along with support from brands including Volvo Cars UK, FreeAgent and Mercer & Web.com.

Initially, users will be able to access support and advice from downloads, e-books, an online business magazine and events. There is also a business prize draw worth £5,000 which is open to those who register before January 15 next year.

Next year a web tv channel will be launched as well as webinars, seminars and networking opportunities.
