Pensions software in the spotlight at auto enrolment support event

Payroll professionals and business advisers involved in introducing sweeping workplace pension reforms can learn more about the software involved at a lunch in Swindon later this month.

Swindon Friends of Automatic Enrolment, which meets at chartered accountants Banks BHG, will hear from SystemSync Solutions, a software company involved in auto enrolment implementation, at its meeting on October 20.

The firm’s CMO Chris Deeson will talk about how software needs to evolve to cope with multiple file transfers and PAPDIS (The Pensions and Payroll Data Interface Standard).

Under auto enrolment – also known as workplace pensions – all employers will be required to register qualifying employees in a pension scheme. There are different staging dates depending on the size of the business, and from this year a huge wave of smaller firms will be pulled in, with a spike at the end of 2016 and into 2017.

Swindon Friends of Automatic Enrolment was set up by Banks BHG’s payroll manager Nicki Goddard-Davy and is affiliated to a national organisation – the Friends of Automatic Enrolment (FoAE) – run by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals. FoAE founder, Andy Agathangelou, will attend the lunch.

Nicki, pictured, said: “Auto enrolment is the biggest change to affect payroll for decades, and is challenging for all involved to get to grips with.

“As well as the legislation and its implications, we all have to understand the software needed to run the system, so we are delighted to have Chris coming along to answer questions.”

Nicki said the aim of FoAE was to spread best practice. The group is open to anyone involved in the delivery of auto enrolment, as well as employers who want to understand more.

The meeting, which is free and includes lunch, runs from 11.30am-2.30pm at Banks BHG’s office in Ermin Street, Stratton. Booking is required via www.banskbhg.com
