Accountancy giant PwC has made two key appointments to its West & Wales regional leadership team following Matt Hammond’s move to the Midlands as regional chairman.

Katharine Finn has replaced Mr Hammond as regional chair for West and Wales while Lynn Pamment has taken over as senior partner to lead PwC in Cardiff. The moves took place this week as PwC prepares to move its regional base to new flagship offices in Bristol.

Katharine Finn joined PwC in 1990 and has worked extensively across the South West and South Wales markets in recent years.

Prior to that she spent 10 years with the firm in London and a period in New Zealand. Katharine graduated from Oxford University after being educated at Bishop of Llandaff, Cardiff.  Recently she has led the firm’s audit and assurance practice in the West & Wales region. She also served on the PwC supervisory board from 2009-2014.

PwC’s West and Wales region has a team of nearly 700 staff across four offices in Bristol, Plymouth, Cardiff and Swansea.

Katharine said: “It is an honour to be appointed to lead the West & Wales region and I’m looking forward to developing and delivering our plans for growth. The UK regions are at the heart of PwC’s growth strategy and we have recently made significant investments here, including five new partners, a superb new office at 2 Glass Wharf, Bristol, and the refurbishment of our Plymouth office.

“I have a clear set of priorities for our practice in the West & Wales, and look forward to working with our team across the region for the medium term and beyond.”

Lynn Pamment will take over the Cardiff office senior partner role from Matt Hammond.

Stephanie Hyde, executive board member and head of regions at PwC, said: “Matt Hammond has successfully led the practice in the West and Wales region for the last two years. I’d like to thank him on behalf of the PwC partnership for his leadership and congratulate him on his new role in the Midlands.

“Katharine Finn brings a huge range of experience to the role, including leading the Assurance practice in the West, as well as significant roles on the PwC Supervisory Board. I look forward to working closely with her and wish her every continued success on behalf of the UK executive board and our team across West & Wales.”

Matt Hammond added: “It has been an exciting time to lead PwC in the West & Wales, where we have seen growth in all areas of our businesses across the region. Our investment in partners, staff and our office infrastructure will support this continued growth, particularly in light of the development of city regions and devolution. I have worked closely with Katharine Finn over the last two years and congratulate her on this appointment.”
