The Brunel Centre, Swindon town centre’s largest retail scheme, has appointed Kevin Gwilliam as general manager.

Kevin, pictured, has extensive experience of managing large department stores and shopping centres. He was most recently centre manager at the Crossgates centre in Leeds and has also managed centres in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Ashford and Wellingborough.

Early in his career he rose from a management trainee to general manager of Debenhams’ flagship store in London’s Oxford Street.

Kevin said: “I’m delighted to be joining the team at The Brunel and I am really looking forward to getting to know the town better.

“This is a really exciting time for Swindon with several major projects in the pipeline and I am very much relishing becoming a part of the business community that contributes to that.”

The 526,000 sq ft Brunel – which is managed by Lancashire-based FI Real Estate Management – occupies more than half of Swindon town centre’s shopping area and has 121 shops, cafes and restaurants. It attracts 14m customers a year and is anchored by a number of national retailers such as House of Fraser, Boots, Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s, as well as local, independent stores.
