Anticipation is building ahead of the Business Show Swindon, which takes place this Thursday at the town’s STEAM museum.

Organisers Business West are expecting a strong turn out by Swindon businesses – last year around 1,000 people attended – as the town’s economy gets back to growth.

The show, now in its fifth year, has become the town’s premier business and networking event – and this year’s show is no exception.

Businesses attending on Thursday will get the opportunity to hear from inspirational keynote speaker Monty Halls, find out how they can recruit and retain staff using social media, discover how they can use research and psychology with their website to grow their business and much more.

Monty Halls, pictured, will aim his talk at anyone coping with the day-to-day demands of running a business. Famous for his much-acclaimed BBC2 Great Escape series, the intrepid expedition leader has been leading teams in some of the most demanding environments on earth for more than 20 years.

The seminar titled How we decide: a quick tour of website psychology, will be delivered by Ben Simmonds from cxpartners, a consultancy applying research and psychology to website design. This informative and insightful seminar will discuss aspects of customer decision-making psychology and what this means for a business’s customers and their website.
He will look at practical examples as well as the theories that underpin them, giving valuable tips and advice to take away and apply to their business.

In his seminar, titled Appeal, Reputation and Success, award-winning recruiter and employer branding extraordinaire Mark Bevans will offer a modern, easy-to-use approach to find, attract and retain quality, happy staff. Mark will illustrate how to manage social media in relation to recruitment, as well as providing cost effective tips for business owners to take away on the day.

Meanwhile, a few last minute exhibition stands at the event are still available. Prices start from £350 + VAT.

New for this year is the Click and Connect Lounge, which is sponsored by law firm Thrings and HSBC Commercial Banking and where delegates can talk to digital experts, relax, network, blog, tweet, hold informal meetings and charge devices – all over a complimentary drink.

Visitors will also get the chance to talk to specialist business growth experts who will be able to advise on the support available in the region to help and grow their business.
