A prominent shop unit on Royal Wootton Bassett High Street has come onto the market – the latest in a series of deals signalling a recovery in the retail property market.

The 647 sq ft unit in Merchants House has been occupied by The Ninety Niner for the past 15 years.

It shares an entrance lobby with Bassett Books and includes a separate store room at the rear with kitchenette and toilet, car parking outside the entrance and a large rear car park.

Alder King’s Swindon office has been instructed by private clients to market the unit, which will be available from next month by way of a new lease.

Swindon office partner James Gregory said: “This unit is situated in the heart of the town by the war memorial and the pedestrian alley leading to Borough Fields shopping centre, so benefits from strong footfall and profile.

“Over the past 12 months we have seen a reduction in the number of empty shop units across our high streets as consumer confidence has picked up and we expect this unit to be of interest, particularly to an independent retailer looking to tap into the popular market town.”
