Law firms across Wiltshire are offering will-writing services throughout November in exchange for a donation to Swindon’s Prospect Hospice.

The Make a Will Month scheme has raised many thousands of pounds towards the charity’s care for patients and their families over recent years and has been supported by solicitors in a number of firms.

Taking part this year are Patricia Martin of Andrews Martin Solicitors, Martin de Bertodano of Pooleys and Alison Hill of Bower and Bailey Solicitors – all based in Swindon – Mandy Casavant of Withy King incorporating Lemon & Co in Swindon and Marlborough, and Heather Wheatley of Chippenham firm Jeary and Lewis.

Prospect Hospice head of fundraising Sheryl Crouch said: “It is well known that many people don’t have a will, and that can have devastating consequences for people who are left behind after someone dies.

“This is an opportunity that can bring peace of mind for people who want to make clear who will benefit from their estate when they are no longer with us. Importantly for us, it has also been a strong source of income for Prospect Hospice in recent years.”

Mandy Casavant, a solicitor in the Private Client team at Withy King, said: “We are delighted to support Prospect Hospice during its Make a Will Month. Over the past three years our clients have raised over £17,000 for the hospice.”
