West accountancy group Monahans’ HR director Peta Fry, who is based in the firm's Swindon office, is to be a guest speaker at two seminars in a major one-day national conference for school bursars and business managers.

EdExec Live features a series of hour-long seminars and half-hour ‘quick-fix’ presentations alongside a small exhibition and networking sessions. It takes place on June 18 at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London.

Peta's first seminar,  called Soft Silky Skills, offers tips on dealing with conflict in the workplace and developing skills for challenging HR situations.

She will explore the causes and signs of conflict and its impact on individuals, teams and organisations. The seminar will highlight the importance of early intervention, communication and mediation when dealing with conflict.

The second seminar, ‘Recruiting the Cream of the Crop', will focus on attracting and retaining staff in the education sector. Peta will discuss employer and role promotion, effective engagement with applicants, interviewing techniques, the offer stage and subsequent steps in the recruitment process.

As well as her role at Monahans, Peta, pictured, is also a fellow of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) and is retained by an independent specialist college to provide HR support.

She has also worked with schools and colleges on several projects, from formulating redundancy programmes to managing investigations into bullying.

Peta has undertaken reviews of HR policies, procedures and documentation and coached managers in people management activities. These include selection interviewing, managing sickness absence and chair disciplinary hearings.

Monahans has 15 partners and a total staff of around 120 across its offices in Bath, Chippenham, Glastonbury, Swindon and Trowbridge – making it one of the largest independent chartered accountancy groups in the West of England.

The firm, which also incorporates Monahans Financial Services Ltd, provides a full range of accountancy, tax, investment, insurance and human resource services to businesses and private individuals.
