Latchways, the Devizes-based specialist safety harnessing firm, has appointed Jamie Matheson, the former chairman of private client investment group Brewin Dolphin, as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Mr Matheson, who left Brewin Dolphin in March last year, is currently a non-executive director of STV, the Scottish broadcaster.

He was also a non-executive director of Maven Income and Growth VCT 5 until April 2013. At Latchways Mr Matheson will assume the role of chair its remuneration committee and will a member of the audit and nomination committees.

Latchways chairman Paul Hearson said: “Jamie brings extensive knowledge and experience of the City to the Latchways board, and I look forward to working with him.”

Brewin Dolphin was Latchways’ corporate broker until the sale of its corporate broking business to a new venture, N+1 Brewin, on February 1, 2012. Latchways said it was of the opinion that Mr Matheson fully satisfied the independence requirements set out in the UK Corporate Governance Code.
