Outsource UK recruits IT industry stalwart as its non-executive chairman

One of the UK’s leading IT industry figures has joined Swindon-based specialist recruitment firm Outsource UK as its non-executive chairman.

Charles Hughes, pictured, has more than 40 years’ experience in the sector having held senior positions at British computer giant ICL and in the Government. He was chairman of the European Computer Research Centre, president of the Swindon-based British Computer Society, the Chartered Institute for IT, and has been a board member of IT companies in Australia, Germany and the US as well as Great Britain.

He has had a close relationship with Outsource for more than a decade as a management consultant and advisor to the firm’s founder and managing director Paul Jameson.

He is passionate about professionalism in IT and founded the International Professional Practice Partnership (IP3). He was also its first chairman. He is also a member of PICTFOR, the Parliamentary ICT Forum, and of the Chartered Management Institute.

A Freeman of the City of London, in 2009/2010 he became Master of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists and received its royal charter.

Outsource UK, which specialises in supplying contract and permanent IT and engineering staff, is one of the fastest-growing companies in its sector.

As well as its Swindon headquarters, it has offices in Staffordshire and Manchester. It employs 50 staff and has an annual turnover or more than £35m.
