Growing demand for ‘corrugated plastic’ leads packaging group to start new division

GWP, the packaging group based in Cricklade, has launched a new division to meet increasing demand for specialist Correx packaging.

A lightweight-but-durable ‘corrugated’ polypropylene sheet material, Correx is also chemical and water resistant. As a result it has become the material of choice for packaging in sectors ranging from automotive to construction and is also used for lightweight shop displays and in-store recycling ‘bins’.

It is manufactured by packaging giant DS Smith at its Gloucester plant.

GWP’s new division, called GWP Correx, offers a bespoke service to design and manufacture packaging products using Correx. It has a dedicated design team and holds sufficient stock to allow very short lead times to be met with bespoke products.

It joins GWP Packaging, GWP Protective, GWP Coatings and GWP Conductive within the GWP group.

GWP Correx managing director Ian Cook said: “Following huge growth in the number of customers coming to GWP for packaging using Correx, we decided to create a dedicated division to manage this growing part of our business.

“This move should further enhance our drive towards complete customer satisfaction across a whole range of packaging materials.”

GWP has stocked Correx for many years but previously supplied it to customers through its Conductive and Packaging divisions.

GWP Correx is also a major stockist of the SSI-Schaefer range of rigid moulded containers.
