Swindon Commercial Services (SCS) has signed its first major contract with a registered social landlord. In the five year deal with Wiltshire-based Selwood Housing, SCS will refurbish empty homes and turn them around for re-letting as quickly as possible.

The £0.75m a year partnership is committed to using local staff and creating opportunities for local work placement training as well as an apprenticeship.

To improve value for money and contract management staff from SCS has joined Selwood Housing in their Trowbridge offices so that they can work closely together and use joint IT systems.

John Alford, Selwood Housing’s chair said: “I am looking forward to working in partnership with Swindon Commercial Services as they join our delivery team working to improve the homes and communities for our tenants. SCS was chosen following a rigorous procurement process that also involved our tenants It was a combination of the way they exploit technology to better serve tenants and the values they displayed throughout their organisation that put them ahead of a very competitive field.”

Bill Fisher, managing director of SCS said: “ We are delighted to have been appointed by Selwood Housing as their Voids Maintenance Partner. I am very much looking forward to working with the Selwood Housing management team to improve their tenant’s experience.
