Number of temporary jobs on the rise

In the current economic climate, Juice has seen an increase in the number of temporary opportunities and placements.

Even though the number of people out of work in the UK rose to 2.22 million in the first three months of 2009 and the jobless rate rose from 6.7 per cent to 7.1 per cent, Juice Recruitment has seen demand increase for employers hiring temporary, contract and interim workers.

The reason for the increase is to supplement staffing for those organisations who have projects where specific skill sets are required or alternatively to cover busy periods and holidays.

Kevin Green, REC’s chief executive said: “As demand returns to the economy, employers’ initial focus is likely to be on hiring temporary, contract and interim workers. A flexible workforce will help businesses respond to demand and provide a stepping-stone back into work for the unemployed.”

The cost to hire a temporary employee is cheaper than employing a permanent employee on the basis that employers only pay for the number of hours that they need the employees to work. Employers can provide the agency with 24 hours notice if they wish to terminate  employment and Juice offers a four-hour guarantee so no charge is made if the temporary candidate is found to be unsuitable.

Emma Summers, managing director of Juice Recruitment said: The recruitment industry makes flexible working possible and in the current recession, a flexible workforce can really benefit employers allowing them to manage their staffing in line with their business needs. At Juice, we have an excellent base of temporary and interim candidates and we are offering exceptional rates to our clients in order to remain competitive and flexible in the current market conditions.”
