Shoppers, diners and party goers in Swindon will be the first people in the UK to cash in on a brand new mobile marketing initiative which brings discounts at the touch of a button via their mobile phone.

The new mobile promotions service is being launched by inSwindon, the town’s Business Improvement District (BID) company, in association with Kaskado, the company which has developed the service.

inSwindon will be launching Kaskado on 25 June on behalf of the shops, pubs and clubs in Swindon town centre. The new service is available to anyone who has web access via their mobile phone. Simply by logging on to www.kaskado.com when they are in town, users can access all the special offers and money off discounts available at participating businesses. All they need to do is select the offer they want to use and simply flash their phone at the checkout, restaurant or bar. No more vouchers littering wallets,  handbags and the streets they can make sure their friends don’t miss out by forwarding on the promotions they like via the internet.

inSwindon has launched the initiative in a bid to provide great deals for visitors to Swindon Town Centre and boost visitor numbers.

“We are very proud to be the first town centre management company to bring this initiative to the UK,” said Simon Jackson, CEO of inSwindon. “These are challenging times for our Retailers and we believe that by using the collective power of our Businesses in this way we can offer value to consumers and give Swindon the competitive edge. This really is a win-win for everyone.”

Kaskado has successfully launched their mobile promotions service in Sweden where it achieved more than double the typical take up rates associated with traditional printed vouchers. It provides great flexibility for the businesses who only pay when their promotions are viewed and can change them in real time. The statistics provided as part of the service mean that the promotions can be accurately monitored for their effectiveness.

The service is 100 per cent opt-in meaning that no spam messages are sent to users and it is 100 per cent free for the user, apart from their usual connection and data traffic charges. The site uses intelligent searches over time so that users are shown offers that are relevant to them, based on previous deals they’ve looked at.

Outlets including McDonalds, Liquid and Envy, The World Café and OMG Hair and Beauty Salon will be taking part at the launch and Simon Jackson is confident that the initiative will catch on very quickly across the town centre.

“Consumers are looking for value and savings and the Kaskado service can help them to shop intelligently,” added Simon. “They don’t need to cut out, store and save up vouchers and remember to bring them with them. All they need is their mobile phone which they can access anytime, anywhere.”
