Watersheds, the Swindon-based corporate finance specialists, has successfully project managed the deal to sell SignSystems Ltd to Allsigns International Ltd.
SignSystems is a highly respected supplier of quality signage products recommended by architects and specifiers to high profile clients such as the University of Exeter and Natural History Museum.
The contemporary styles are suitable for use indoors or outdoors and are the preferred option for a wide range of market sectors including financial, education, health, retail, industrial, the arts and public sector.  Fixing applications include door, suspended, projecting or freestanding and in addition, existing products can be adapted by changing colours, sizes or profiles to suit the demands of the customer.
In difficult trading conditions and under pressure from his bankers, owner, Jamie Wood, felt that the business would be better placed as part of a larger group and turned to Sue Green at Watersheds for help.
Jamie Wood said: “This was not a straightforward transaction but Sue adeptly led the process from start to finish.  Time was not on my side but guided by Watersheds’ expertise I knew I had the best chance of success. With their knowledgeable, efficient and friendly approach, Watersheds achieved an outcome with which I am delighted.”
Timing was critical if the business was to survive intact so Watersheds moved quickly to approach potential strategic buyers.  Within a matter of weeks, a deal was agreed in principal with Allsigns International Ltd, who were keen to broaden their business with the acquisition of SignSystems’ product portfolio.  The deal completed two weeks later, guaranteeing the future of the business and protecting all employees’ jobs in Exeter.
Sue Green of Watersheds said: “It is always distressing when a business finds itself in difficulties.  Tragically, this is a sign of the times and perfectly good businesses find themselves under pressure from their banks through no fault of their own.  We are delighted to be able to help find a solution that allows the business to continue trading.”
